You Think You...

You claim you know me?
             You only know of the mask that I wear.
You say you understand?
              But how do you know what pain I have been through?
You believe you love me?
              Don't bother, it will only make the both of us vulnerable.
You want to see my truth?
              Boy, the only thing you will ever see is my lies.
You claim you have my back?
              No, you don't. In order to have my back, I would have to trust you first.
You now claim that you hate me?
              Good. Hate me. Your hate makes me strong.
You think I am blind?
               You are the one who is blinded, hidden from the secrets that you will never know, secrets that would make you tremble with fear.
You say I am smart?
                If only you know how smart you had to be in order to prevail in this life.
You believe I am a survivor?
                I am a survivor because life made me hard and cruel, for it shaped everything about who I am. Life demands me to survive, and so I will survive, just to stick around and see who else has what it takes to live. Not by my choice will I survive, but so I can go on and watch you.
