Literature Text

Do not mourn for me as I take my final breath
and close my eyes and surrender to this abyss.
Do not cling to my corpse as my blood grows cold
for it is not my body without a heart or a soul.
I will not whisper lies into your ear about this
realm that I journey to now
For lies unknowingly allow
a tinge of truth to seep through the gaps in the words.
But I shall leave you with parting mutters of advice:
Do not look for me under the shady trees where we'd lunch,
nor in the gentle autumn rain that waters our flowerbed.
Do not seek for me in the pale moonlight glow
nor in the bitter winds of the winters you love so.
Do not peer into the rusty tree house that harbored us from
our nightmares as children,
and do not glance wistfully at the indented seats where I used to fall asleep
or in the many beloved possessions that we claimed for our own.
I am not there.
I will never be there again.
Perhaps you were expecting a note, an explanation
to answer the questions that will forever torment you.
But my reasons need not be rationalized
for I offer no justification for what I am about to do.
I am sorry but I shall not think to regret doing this.
I will not be happy..... and I will not be sad.
That is the beauty of dying:
The emptiness; the bliss.
I know I shall only be missed by one,
and farewell to you my only love.
It is time for me to fall asleep;
it is time for me to wake up.
I wrote this for my teen writing clubs next meeting....not that great :/ About a man about to die, who comits suicide to save himself from future pain, and the final words he leaves his lover. Ya.
